COVID19 Response

As at: 1 December 2021

The mining industry is playing an important role in providing economic stability for Western Australia and the nation during this COVID-19 crisis.  Our role and responsibility, both as a company and as individuals, is to protect our people and the broader community while continuing to support the economy.

We continue to proactively implement measures to change the way we operate our business to ensure the health and safety of our people and our communities.  As a minimum, these measures conform with the guidelines and advice of the Commonwealth and State governments.

Continuing to Keep Our People Safe

Our health and safety measures across our workplaces in response to the virus are continuously reviewed and if necessary updated, to respond to the increased global understanding of the virus and any changing government directives and guidelines.

Welfare of our People

We have introduced a number of measures to keep our people safe and well.  With the easing of restrictions within Western Australia, where our key operations and corporate headquarters are located, we will continue to focus on providing our people with the support and care they need, and the following measures will remain in place:

  • A special COVID-19 leave provision of 20 days in addition to standard leave provisions
  • Regular communication to our people on the latest measures we are taking to prevent the spread of the infection and ensure we are staying connected with them
  • Education and Awareness Programs
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program 24 hours a day
  • Mental Health Care Programs across all locations

Health Screening and Increased Hygiene

IGO will maintain health screening processes before entrance to our Nova Operation and will continue regular interval temperature checking of people on site.

Increased cleaning practices will remain in place at all our locations and all staff continue to practice safe physical distancing. We will continue to communicate the importance of good personal hygiene and to not attend work if ill.

Our Commitment to our Local Communities

IGO have a strong commitment to caring for the local communities in which we operate and have developed a special community fund to benefit these communities during this time.

IGO was a founding donor of The Royal Flying Doctors of WA Response Ready for WA appeal and provided financial support to the Earbus Foundation with donations of basic supplies to the neediest communities that they visit.

IGO has also pledged $250,000 to support the Shire of Esperance and the Shire of Dundas with their COVID-19 and bushfire recovery plans. This donation provides vital support to the Shire of Esperance’s COVID-19 Community Recovery Plan and the Shire of Dundas’ Bushfire Recovery Plan and will help ensure these local communities are supported during this challenging time.

IGO will work together with the Shires to develop community-based projects to directly benefit all in these local communities.
