LOCATION

The Forrestania Operation is located 400km east of Perth in Western Australia. 

The Ballardong people, the Marlinyu Ghoolie people and the Ngadju people are the Traditional Owners of the land.


BACKGROUND

In 2022, the Forrestania Operation was acquired by IGO as part of the acquisition of Western Areas. 

FLYING FOX MINE

The Flying Fox underground mine remains one of the highest grade nickel mines in the world. Production commenced in 2006, and the mine now operates at depths of over 1km underground.

SPOTTED QUOLL MINE

The Spotted Quoll underground mine was discovered in October 2007 as a result of ongoing investment in regional and near-mine exploration by previous owners Western Areas. The mine has operated successfully for 10 years, delivering high grade ore feed to the Cosmic Boy Concentrator.

Production FY23

In FY23, Forrestania achieved total production of 11,931 tonnes of nickel at a cash cost of A$9.65/lb Ni (payable).

Nickel: 7,500 to 9,000 tonnes

Cash Costs (payable)

A$9.50 to A$10.50/lb Ni
