HEALTH AND SAFETY

At IGO, we care about the health and safety of our people and our host communities. We proactively prevent harm by providing a physically and psychologically safe workplace, with safe systems of work. In addition, we understand safe work is, more than anything else, the product of culture.

At IGO, we actively seek to create a culture in which each of us assumes responsibility for our own health and safety and, that of our workmates.

Intellectual honesty when it comes to Heath and Safety

We all take risks. Business is based on taking informed risks. At IGO, it is our intention that we, as a business, and as individuals, only take risks in an informed way. At IGO we will not accept any risk where there is an elevated potential for serious harm or fatality. While we cannot offer a completely hazard free work environment; no organisation can, we maintain an expectation of continuous improvement in hazard identification and management and expect to be held accountable for our performance. Consequently, we can, and always will, pursue efforts to make our workplace safer and promote a culture in which the welfare of our people is central.

At IGO we measure our health and safety performance using a variety of metrics that speak to the nature and frequency of injuries and illness. We also monitor our workforce’s perceptions about our health and safety performance and the degree to which we have created a culture that demonstrates care. For further detail, refer to our IGO Sustainability Report.

IGO would like to acknowledge and pay respects to Traditional Owner groups whose land we are privileged to work on, and whose input and guidance we seek and value within the operation of our business. We acknowledge the strong, special physical and cultural connections to their ancestral lands.
